Welcome to the Toronto chapter of Food Not Bombs
Because food is a right, not a privilege.
Because scarcity is a lie, food does grow on trees.
Because Canada needs FOOD, NOT BOMBS

We all cherish Toronto's role as a multicultural city, whether black or white, Hindu or Jew, we take pride in our mutually beneficial fashion of co-existence. But sometimes we forget, and turn a blind towards, those who are distinguished not by their heritage, but by their circumstance.

This month, 175,000 citizens of Toronto will rely on food donations. 4,000 will spend every night on a cot in a homeless shelter. 1,000 sleep only on park benches, subway grilles and beneath their tattered sleeping bags.

Food Not Bombs extends a hand to those in need, while demonstrating that individual people can make a difference. Our weekly servings of free, hot, vegetarian meals in downtown Toronto feed dozens of people, while highlighting the hypocrisy that sees one section of the population without food, while the other section prefers to throw food out than share it with the hungry.
